In order to fully participate in our Daycare program all pets must be at least 4 months of age and have all of the following:
- In order to provide a parasite and disease free environment, and in keeping with American Animal Hospital Association Standards, we ask that our daycare guests have a current “no parasites seen” fecal.
- For our NEW daycare patients, we ask that this be within the month prior to their first visit.
- For our current daycare clients, we ask that one be on record within the past year.
- Be current on the following vaccines:
- Rabies (1 or 3 year),
- DAP (Distemper-Adenovirus-Parvovirus) (1 or 3 year),
- Bordetella* (*we require this every 6 months in a continued effort to prevent the most common upper respiratory ailments)
- Be continually on a veterinary-approved intestinal parasite prevention, heart worm prevention, and flea prevention.
- These are either:
- Applied topically monthly, e.g., Advantage Multi (we do not accept Frontline as a valid prevention as fleas have shown resistance to it.)
- Given orally monthly, e.g., Simparica Trio; Heartgard or Interceptor, WITH Nexgard; Trifexis; or have had a ProHeart 6 or 12 injection (for heartworm/intestinal prevention) WITH either, e.g., Bravecto; or Nexgard (these provide protection from fleas and ticks)
- These are either:
- If we observe fleas or ticks on your pet, or worms on your pet’s stool (this does not take the place of an actual fecal float), or have a positive fecal result, we will prescribe dewormer and ask that your pet not go out to “brush and play” until we have a “no parasites seen” fecal.
We also evaluate behavior of our guests, and observe how dogs play/interact with each other. Our team is educated on how to evaluate signs of stress in our guests. That said, just like when children interact, there are times when situations arise that require team intervention. If this occurs, you will be updated either at pickup, or with a phone call depending upon the urgency.
We may suggest individual playtime if your pet seems stressed or acts inappropriately with other guests during play sessions. We may also suggest obedience training. These suggestions are made in an effort to improve your pet’s quality of life, improve their confidence, and enable them a more well-rounded life. Please realize we have their best interests in mind. These are not criticisms.
