USAR: Large Animal Rescue Training Course


The Lakeland Fire Department’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team LTRT 421 hosted a Large Animal Rescue Training Class on Thursday, March 31 through Friday, April 1, 2016. The training class was truly a group effort with the training taking place at LakelandPD facilities with Polk County Fire Rescue LTRT 422 team and Polk County Sheriff’s Officeagricultural services joining in as participants to benefit from the course.

Hearing “and the winner is … My Pet’s Animal Hospital” marked just the beginning of the excitement, said Donna McWilliams, owner of the Lakeland veterinary practice at 2225 Drane Field Road.

“This is a team effort. This is an award for the whole hospital,” said McWilliams the morning after she won first place in the 2016 Small Business of the Year award presented Thursday evening at the Tampa Convention Center.

Polk businesses vying for top honors

LAKELAND — The Grammys are set to be handed out this weekend, and the Oscars will follow suit later this month. But the Central Florida business community will have its eye on a different award ceremony tonight.

Bright House Networks’ third annual Regional Business Awards for the Tampa Bay area will take place at the Tampa Convention Center.
